About

Flavors of St. Thomas Food Tours knows the island is so much more than its beaches and invites visitors to progressively dine with us in a safe, sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.

We are professionally certified by Food Tour Pros, The US Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association and are members of and advisors to the Global Food Tours Association.  Trust you are with the pros.

Our Story

As the official food tour company of St. Thomas USVI our challenge is to get you to see past those quesadillas and cheeseburgers on the restaurant menu and dive into the local cuisine of St. Thomas. We want to be there when you first taste “fungi” and give you a hands-on lesson on how to make your own “pain-killer” (hint: it’s not in a pill form!).

As massive foodies we were inspired to create St. Thomas’ best food tour in 2016 by the very spirit of the island, its people and cuisine…and we’ve become experts at it! We started the first food tour in the Caribbean in 2009 with the launch of Puerto Rico’s Flavors of San Juan Food and Culture Tours in. We’ve since expanded into Sint Maarten/St. Martin and Atlanta, Georgia.

Flavors brand food tours have created a cult following and we’re excited for you to join us here in St. Thomas and see what all the buzz is about! (we’ve been featured on CNN, the BBC, USA Today, and many others!)

Eat Well, Be Inspired® is our motto, which we think everyone who loves to travel, explore and eat well can share and identify with.

Our Team

LesliePresident & Foodie in Chief
Leslie began her professional career as a journalist after graduating from the University of Georgia, M.A. Mass Communications. She has written for CNN, Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Gwinnett Daily Post, Caribbean Business, Que Pasa Magazine and the Puerto Rico Daily Sun.

She traded in grits for mofongo when moving from Atlanta to the Caribbean in 2008. She met and married the love of her life, had a family and is now an honorary “Sorta-Rican,” with her home base in Puerto Rico.

Doing less writing and more entrepreneurship, Leslie was excited in 2009 to launch the first “food tour” in the Caribbean with Flavors of San Juan Food and Culture Tours, which prior to her company was a previously unexplored business model in the region.

Through the years the Flavors brand has enjoyed a cult following in the region and we’re excited to share the “Flavors food tours” with you during your time in St Thomas USVI.

Eat Well, Be Inspired® is our motto, and we invite you to do just that!

YaribellDirector of Finance
Prior to joining the Flavors management team, Yaribell worked for a decade as the Compliance and Operations Officer at San Juan Asset Management. Before joining SJAM she worked as the CFO for a public corporation of the government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Yaribell earned her B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from The University of Puerto Rico. She is fluent in English, Spanish and salsa dancing.

A big fan of mofongo, homemade rice and beans and crème brulee, she’s found her perfect home here at Flavors. Her favorite travel experiences include visiting the Colosseum in Rome, Sunset Helicopter drive to the Grand Canyon in Colorado, a Gondolas tour in Venice, swimming with stingrays in Grand Cayman and swimming with dolphins in Xcaret, Mexico

Fun fact: when she’s not salsa dancing or crunching numbers she’s taking care of her TWINS!

Cristina Operations and Marketing Specialist
Cristina’s originally from San Juan, where she earned a degree in Labor Relations and and MA in Media Editing by the tender age of 26. She moved to NYC in 2012, returning 5 years later to her homeland.
Cristina’s always been inspired by people’s behavior and psychology, which led her to create Spiral of Bliss in 2012: a personal blog and forum that inspires readers to live more fulfilled lives.

In her spare time she enjoys the company of loved ones, food, music, writing, traveling and, if the beat is right…dancing (sometimes all night!)

Fun Fact: In 2016 she traveled across 9 countries in 6 months. Favorite places: India and Japan.

NyrmahOperations Associate
When Nyrmah is not reading classic books, traveling to New York (which she calls a gateway to other cultures) or being daring and dipping oreos into orange juice for kicks she’s making sure your food tour experience runs 100% smoothly…and taste-ily (is that a word?)

A native of Dorado, Puerto Rico she has her BBA concentration in Accounting and a Certification in Theatrical Arts. She’s currently studying for her MA in Creative Writing.

Fun Fact: We call her the “Flavors whisperer” because she can melt the heart of even the angriest vendor, guest or frustrated tour guide with her excellent people skills

VanessaOperations Assistant
Vanessa was born in San Jose, Costa Rica.

She earned a BA in Sociology with a minor in cultural studies, Aesthetics from Chile.
When she’s not working in operations/logistics at Flavors she’s busy earning her Master’s Degree in Cultural Agency and Administration.

A true foodie at heart, she enjoys cooking with new recipes and trying new restaurants.

Fun Fact: If you find her out and about ask her about her struggle with keeping her cat on a diet. Hey, cats can be foodies, too right?

LisaEpicurean Host
Lisa was born in a small rural town in Northern Michigan with a population of 1,200. Her ancestors have been in that area since the mid 1800’s so she is a 12th generation American. She spent most of her adult life in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a much larger city with a fun name.

Top reasons why she loves USVI: locally grown foods such as mangoes, tamarind, passion fruit, genip, star fruit, pineapple, bananas, and even seafood. Lisa also indulges in seafood and chocolate. However, she never mixes the two!

Fun Fact: She’s a retired professional ballet dancer. She teaches children ballet lessons and has formed a local dance troupe in St. Thomas, choreographing and performing with adult dancers.

BrookEpicurean Host
Brook has been a native to the Virgin Islands to more than 20 years. However, she spent most of her time in the British VI.

An avid sailor, Brook has been in several regattas and has extensive boating experience.

When she’s not guiding a Flavors food tour she’s buffing up on the history of the island or enjoying the conch fritters at Jen’s Cafe in Charlotte Amalie, one of her favorite haunts.

Fun Fact: Brook has lived longer in the Caribbean than anywhere else
